Garden Carnival Activities
Hello Garden Folks,

As part of the larger Madera Carnival, we’ll have garden activities at the garden. Thanks to our Garden Carnival Activity Volunteers! A couple more volunteers for 1:30 – 3:00 pm shift would be great.

12:00-1:30pm
Eco Toss: Shair Ough, Cailey Commerford
Sow a Seed: Charity Ankrum, Andrea Dorn
Willow Activities/Presentation: Virginia Northrop

1:30-3:00
Eco Toss: Ameena Jandali
Sow a Seed: Robin Hansen

Needed: Recycle Toys as Prizes!
In keeping with the Earth Day theme, please consider donating small toys/knick knacks to our prize table.

Small toys/items should be in new or very good condition. Books, craft items, keychains, coin purses, school supplies, souvenirs, costume jewelry, etc. all in good condition also make great prizes for our kids. Donating and reusing cuts down on buying plasticky junk for prizes.

Also Needed: Little plant pots for Sow a Seed Activity

Garden Work Party 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Garden Regulars Needed as Mentors!
If you’ve been a regular volunteer in the Madera Garden, please consider acting as a “lead” volunteer this Saturday to those who may be helping out for the first time. You can help to direct helpers in weeding and mulching or perhaps coordinate an effective mulch or gravel brigade.

Irrigation Education
We will be tuning up our irrigation system by checking connections, tightening/loosening watering heads, repositioning nozzles, etc. We need more of our garden volunteers to know how to do this, in order to regularly maintain our irrigation system. Please consider helping out with this fine tuning and learning how it all works. Better yet, if you DO know how the maintain drip irrigation systems, help us to teacher other volunteers how to check and fine tune our system on Saturday.

LOTS of NEWSPAPER Needed!
We will be creating “lasagna” layering of wet newspapers as the base for our wood chip mulch. Please bring your stacks of newspapers on Saturday.

Thanks for your help and enthusiasm!
