7:00pm – Multipurpose Room
Dear Madera Parents–
Please join us next Monday for a special meeting of the Madera PTA. Please note: the meeting will begin earlier than posted on the agenda to accommodate our guests. The meeting will begin at 7:00 pm upstairs in the multi-purpose room.
Dr. Bruce Harter, WCCUSD Superintendent, and Pixie Hayward Schickele, President of United Teachers of Richmond, will join us to talk about the possible teacher’s strike and to answer your questions about these issues and what it means to our kids and to Madera.
We will also review the proposed PTA budget for the coming year, which includes continued support for classroom supplies, field trips, assemblies and the computer center, as well as increased funding to offset budget cuts, including:
$5,000 Math & Science
$10,000 Instrumental Music
$2,000 Physical Education
$10,000 Office Copier & Repair
$5,000 Lower Playground Field Upkeep
$5,000 Copier paper and office supplies
$6,000 EL Instruction
Total proposed spending this year is over $120,000- funds that will directly benefit all of our children and the Madera community. At next week’s meeting we’ll review the spending proposals, fundraising plans, and event calendar for the coming year.
Child care: for this special meeting, we will have child care available at Madera at no charge.
Two Madera after care staff members will be onsite from 6:45 to 9:00 pm in the community room/lower playground area and will supervise children during the meeting, which begins at 7 pm. They will have games and activities planned. If possible please let me know if you’ll be bringing your kids so that I can let them know how many to expect.
I look forward to seeing you there.
