Come Celebrate Madera’s Cultural Diversity!
Bring an appetizer, finger food, or dessert to share and taste flavors from around the world at the regional tables. Enjoy time with friends & family in an open house, cocktail party style atmosphere. (This year, drop off food early starting at 2:30pm, please ensure it’s well-wrapped!)
Enjoy a special performance by the Diwa Kulintang Circle playing traditional Filipino melodies while you start your evening exploring Madera’s rich diversity. (Diwa will play a twenty minute set starting promptly at 6p.)
Don’t miss Madera’s first talent show (well, since we’ve been here anyway) starting at 6:30p. Prepare to be entertained with music recitals, dance numbers & pop songs. Join the performers and sing along to “It’s a Small World” at the end of the talent show. (Print out the program & lyrics and bring them with you.)
Finally, in this time of crisis in Japan, we will have a table accepting donations for the Red Cross and teaching folks how to fold origami paper cranes. The goal is to make one thousand paper cranes to send over to Japan with the donations. Rie Uzawa will be available for more information. In addition, the Madera student council will also be kicking off their coin drive for Japan at International Night. (Parents bring your checkbooks & kids bring your piggy banks!)
See you at International Night!
