Come one, come all! The Madera Carnival is just around the corner!
Join us between 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 14, for fun games, yummy food, and awesome prizes.
Here’s how it works: Entrance is free, but you need to buy tickets when you arrive to play the games. Try your luck at the Cookie Monster, the Dipping Ducks, or the Pie Toss! Putt your way to class in Late-for-School Mini-Golf! Play bingo, which will be called with gusto by our PTA President. Or see what treats the Pocket Lady — who might look something like our principal — has to offer!
For each game you play you’ll receive one or more punches in your Carnival Card. Redeem your card for excellent science-oriented prizes, then go play some more. Be sure to look for the special guests (hint: think of your favorite retired teachers) who will be staffing some of the booths.
Delicious pizza, popcorn and sno-cones will be available for purchase, or you can try to win a chocolate treat on the Cupcake Walk.
The Carnival will take place on the Upper Playground and in the Multipurpose Room at Madera Elementary. The time again: 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 14. This is the last Madera community event of the school year, so save the date! See you there!
Call for Volunteers
The Madera Carnival is just around the corner (11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 14), and we need volunteers!
For those of you who weren’t around for the last Carnival two years ago, it’s a joyous all-community event that takes place on the Upper Playground and in the Multipurpose Room. There will be games, food, and prizes for all.
Here are the areas where we could use your help:
Staffing the games: This is easy duty on most games. It involves taking tickets from kids, helping them play the games, and hole-punching their carnival cards which they will later redeem for prizes.
Selling tickets: We need two or three people to sit at a table selling packs of tickets and handing out carnival cards.
Working the prize table: Kids will come in with their completed carnival cards which they’ll redeem for excellent science-based toys and books. This can get hectic (especially at the end), but is also rewarding.
Food service: Pizza, popcorn and sno-cones will be available for purchase (using tickets). We need at least four volunteers at a time.
Set-up and clean-up: Help us prep beforehand (set up games, hang decorations) or clean up afterward (stowing games, sweeping, etc.)
We will work in two shifts, the first from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, the second from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm (plus the set-up and clean-up shifts). Volunteers can be parents, grandparents, family friends and fifth graders. We’d especially like to have some of our younger families volunteer, to help pass the Carnival on to the next generation.
Please join us by signing up at the following website (the same site used for Auction volunteers).
