It is time for the STAR! 2nd through 5th grade students will have the opportunity to “show what they know” and have learned this year. The purpose of the STAR (Standardized Testing and Reporting) is for students to be tested on their understanding of state standards of learning in reading, math, and science (5th grade only).
Included with this letter is the testing schedule for each grade level. Please be sure that students are well rested and have had a good breakfast and bring a healthy snack in preparation for testing each day. Make-up tests will be given once testing has begun. This is not a good time to schedule vacations and other events that will take students away from school during testing.
In addition to teaching students to mastery of the current year’s standards, each classroom is also using test prep materials to prepare students to be successful. If you have internet access at home and want to provide test questions for your child to practice or become more familiar with the STAR, check out the following website.
If you have any questions about testing and ways to be sure your child is prepared, please contact me or your child’s teacher.
