10:00am | 7125 Donal Ave
Hi Parents and Madera Families –
This Thursday (2/7/13) at 10am, 7125 Donal Ave, the district (WCCUSD) is having a site walk-through with construction project managers with district staff, and some families that will be attending the Portola Middle School at its new location. (projected/hoped for Fall 2015 completion).
The more support and input the project has, the less questions and delays later.
Please consider going. I know there are some Go Portola! families already working hard at making Portola a well-supported community.
Here’s some details from Charles Ramsey, Clerk, Board of Ed, WCCUSD:
“West Contra Costa Unified School District staff is now prepared fr the Go Portola ! group. Staff has stepped up and now is ready to host our families who are part of the Portola feeder pattern. I really hope that we can have an impressive turnout for the walk through and have a new “set of eyes” on this project. It would be nice to see parents from all the feeder schools at the walk and some community leaders. Portola will be the largest construction project in El Cerrito since El Cerrito High School and its community theatre, which has been a huge success.
Why go? Going provides everyone an opportunity to learn about the construction timelines, the level of interest in the project, what is actually going into the school for educational instruction and how we can keep the buzz going about this state of the art facility that will be the model for instructional success.
Remember, people are meeting on the Donal side of the school and the meeting is at 10:00 AM on Thursday February 7th. You will only need an hour of your time for the meeting. Finally, staying engaged keeps staff alerted that being timely is important. I want to see this school open fall 2015. We can do it if we put our efforts and minds to it. Please share this email with others that may have an interest in Portola Middle School.”
Location of the site is what used to be Castro Elementary. 7125 Donal Ave, between Norvell and Lawerence Streets.
Todd Groves, a newly elected Board Member, has committed to being there. Hope some of you can make it as well.
