    Volunteers Needed!
The Spring Auction’s main event is a mere 2 1/2 weeks away and we still need 70% if the volunteer jobs filled.  Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to help!!  During the event, most time slots are only a 1-hour commitment so you will still have plenty of time to bid, socialize, eat, and simply have a great time!  Please sign up for a job on Volunteerspot.  Most are on the day of the event, Saturday, May 4, but there are also some food preparation slots needed on Friday, May 3.  You will see both dates on the calendar when you enter the site.
  • Portola Survey
Portola has been in the news!… New building, new commitments from the District to support academic and enrichment programs – there’s a sense that we have the opportunity to bring some real and meaningful change to this school. GoPortola! is running a survey to get your input on how our efforts should be focused. This is your chance to add your voice to the conversation. Please consider filling out this brief survey by visiting: www.surveymonkey.com/s/GoPortola2013
  • Healthy Kids Survey
If you can’t get enough online surveys this week, and would like to give feedback about our school climate, take the Healthy Kids Survey online. Our school code is YX44GD. Our 5th grade students took the survey last month, the staff is doing it now, and it’s open to parents until May 3.
  • Thank you to everyone who helped with the Science Fair!
The Science Fair Parent Night was a great success, with 210 projects on display! We appreciate the efforts of the students who participated in the Science Fair this year, and the families and teachers that supported them. Students explored a wide variety of interesting topics, and put a tremendous amount of energy into carrying out their projects. Their scientific efforts made the Fair a great success, and we congratulate all participating students on a job well done. As with all Madera events, the 2013 Science Fair could not have happened without the work of many people in our community.
