Madera Garden Updates

Hello Madera folks,

I hope you are all doing well as we roll into the end of April.  Where does the time go?

HUGE thank you to all of the folks who made this last Farmers Market such a wonderful event: the farmers who grew tasty crops and made the change, and the moms and dads who came early and stayed late to package up food, help kids sell their wares, and count the money.  Also, thanks to those of you who came out the market and bought plants, and rosemary salt, gigantic beets, and lots of lettuce- we couldn’t do this without you.  It is really lovely to see all of the families, students and staff building community around our shared values of good food and caring for the environment.

Curious about how much we made?  After hearing from Jamba Juice and Barefoot Books (both of who gave a us a percentage of their profits), we made (drum roll, please):

$1000

Awesome job everyone!

If you couldn’t make it out to the market, but are still interested in supporting the garden and in helping the PTA fund all of our great Madera programming, you still have a chance to help out:

1.  Through Friday (4/26), we will receive 15% on any purchases you make through our web portal at Barefoot Books.  So, invest in some great reading material, and support our school: http://www.barefootbooks.com/marketplace/17840
(Scroll down the page and click on the Madera Farmers Market link)

madera_farmers_market_organic_mens_tshirt2.  Through the end of May, we will be selling our Farmers Market aprons, hats, bags, and mugs through Cafepress.  The PTA will get a percentage back on all purchase made through this site.

And finally, I just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be running the chicken class this weekend– I didn’t get enough signups.  I will try again next year!

Thanks so much everyone,
Molly
