The Madera Carnival for 2013 was a smashing success! We exceeded all expectations. Everyone had a grand day out and it will be something to remember for years to come. But what made it great was the Volunteers stepping up and really contributing to the whole.
There were 14 assorted stations to run. There were games to set up and procure, meat to cook, beverages to purchase and ice to find, buckets and buckets and buckets of water balloons (The Sorcerers Apprentice had it easy). There were posters made, signage to post, banners to hang, word to get out, music to play, big screens and Wii, greeters at the gate, a thousand and one strokes of paint brushes, a gazillion cupcakes, a trophy to craft, trash and recycling cans to place, tables to move, hay bales to set a scene, hand made flags, a hundred errands to run and essentially none of it would have been possible without the supreme effort of the Volunteer.
It was the Volunteer who made this event. Over 100 parents, students, teachers, staff and their family and friends stepped up to make it happen. Your tireless efforts kept a sublime smile on every child from age 1 to 90. You took to your stations and tasks and made them your own displaying adroit flexibility while remembering all the joy, excitement and fun that is a Carnival. You worked above and beyond the call from the parent to the friend to the hand in, you all stepped up and made a monster of cheer! No one told you that you have to help. You just did. And that made all the difference.
So a big, big THANK YOU from the Madera Carnival Crew. Here’s to you!
