Room Parents

Room parents play a key role in keeping families informed and supporting teachers with classroom activities. They act as a bridge between the teacher and parents, helping with communication, organizing volunteers, and coordinating special events.

Room Parent Responsibilities

  • Class Communication – Share important updates from the teacher and Room Parent Coordinator via ParentSquare or email (use BCC for privacy).

  • Teacher Support – Organize classroom volunteers for field trips, projects, and special activities.

  • Classroom Events – Plan and coordinate class parties, including sign-ups for parent contributions and volunteers.

  • Teacher Gifts – Collect contributions and arrange class gifts for the teacher during the holidays and at the end of the year.

  • Teacher Appreciation Week – Help plan appreciation activities with guidance from the PTA.

Optional Tasks:

  • Create a shared contact list for families.

  • Organize class playdates or social gatherings.

  • Attend PTA meetings to stay involved.

How It Works

Room parent duties vary by teacher and can be shared among multiple parents. The key is staying in contact with the teacher and Room Parent Coordinator to ensure smooth communication and support.

Being a room parent is a great way to contribute to your child’s classroom and connect with other families. If you're interested, reach out to your classroom teacher at the beginning of the year.
